Message from Program Director

The Japanese government has declared its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. While the year 2050 may seem distant, achieving carbon neutrality is no easy task; it is considered an urgent matter. Stating that it’s not an easy feat is because achieving carbon neutrality, defined as "zero emissions of greenhouse gases in total," requires collaboration across various fields.
We believe that nurturing individuals who can address this challenging task is the mission of this program. Given the involvement of various fields, it becomes essential to view carbon neutrality from a multidimensional perspective. Therefore, this program brings together professors from different fields, breaking away from the constraints of traditional disciplines, to provide lectures and research guidance on carbon neutrality from various angles.
We eagerly await students who are passionate about courageously confronting the pressing challenges facing society.

We aim to achieve a sustainable society

持続可能社会"Program of carbon neutrality science and engineering" confronts challenges such as global warming caused by the excess of carbon dioxide, which has been incurred as a trade-off for a comfortable society. It aims to educate and research the knowledge and technology necessary to achieve "carbon neutrality," meaning zero carbon dioxide emissions in total. Students will comprehensively learn how to create, store, and utilize energy without emitting carbon dioxide, approaching the topic from various perspectives.

Engaging with various disciplines such as "chemistry," "physics," "mechanical engineering," and "electrical engineering," the program encourages a diverse exploration without being confined. To tackle the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality, multiple research labs collaborate to advance new studies. The program aims to cultivate individuals with a broad perspective in interdisciplinary fields and high problem-solving abilities, pioneering the exploration of uncharted territories.
